Terms of Use
Last updated: 19 September 2026
By accessing or using FishFig (the “Site”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Use. If you do not agree with them, do not use the Site. These terms apply to every page, tool, dataset, and printable document published under this domain.
1. No Professional Advice
The Site provides educational and informational resources only. Nothing on it constitutes legal advice, regulatory advice, or a determination of whether a particular catch, license purchase, or trip complies with the law. FishFig is not a law firm, is not affiliated with any state or provincial fish and wildlife agency, and does not act on any agency’s behalf.
Fishing regulations are enforced by the agency that publishes them. Where this Site summarises a rule, the summary is a convenience layer over a source we name on the page, and the published source controls. A statement on this Site never overrides a regulation, an emergency order, or a notice posted at a boat ramp.
Pages that discuss license fees, size and bag limits, seasons, and species restrictions are informational. Before you buy a license, keep a fish, or rely on a limit, confirm the current rule with the agency named on that page.
2. Accuracy and Reliance
We work to a sourcing rule rather than an accuracy promise: every fee, limit, stocking total, and date we publish is drawn from an agency publication and is stored with a citation, a year, and a retrieval date, and where a figure cannot be verified we display “verify locally” instead of an estimate. That rule exists because invented numbers are worse than missing ones when someone is deciding whether a fish they are holding is legal.
Even so, the underlying rules change, and they change on the agency’s schedule rather than ours. Fees are revised annually; seasons and emergency closures can change mid-season; waterbody-specific regulations are amended without notice; agencies are renamed and reorganised, which breaks contact details. For those reasons the Site is provided on an “as is” and “as available” basis, and you rely on any figure at your own risk after checking it against the source named on the page.
If you find an error, the fastest route is to send us the page link and the agency source that contradicts it through the contact form. We correct against sources, not against requests.
3. Acceptable Use
You may read, print, and share the Site for personal, non-commercial use, including printing the checklists and worksheets for your own trip or for a group you are leading. You agree not to scrape the Site at a volume that degrades service for other users, not to attempt to bypass access controls, and not to resell any dataset, tool, or printable published here as your own product.
Government works that we aggregate carry their own status. U.S. federal works are not subject to copyright under 17 U.S.C. §105, which is why aggregated federal data can be republished with attribution. Canadian provincial material is governed by Crown copyright, which is different, and this Site restates those sources with attribution rather than reproducing regulation text wholesale.
4. Intellectual Property
The selection, arrangement, structure, tools, written guides, and design of this Site are protected by copyright and belong to FishFig. You may link to any page and quote short passages with attribution, but you may not reproduce substantial portions of the Site, republish our structured datasets, or present our tools as your own without written permission.
Third-party names, agency names, and species names are used descriptively. FishFig does not endorse and is not endorsed by any agency, brand, tackle manufacturer, or retailer, and no page on this Site carries affiliate or sponsored placements that affect a recommendation.
5. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, FishFig is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Site. That includes damages arising from reliance on an out-of-date fee, limit, season, contact detail, or water-access note; from a cancelled or wasted trip; from a citation or enforcement action; from reliance on a printable checklist; or from any interruption or unavailability of the Site.
You are responsible for compliance with the fishing, licensing, boating, and invasive-species rules that apply where you fish, and that responsibility is not transferred by reading anything here.
6. Third-Party Links and Sources
The Site links to agency websites, regulation publications, and other third-party resources so you can verify a figure at its source. We do not control those sites, we are not responsible for their content, availability, or privacy practices, and a link is not an endorsement. When a third-party page changes or disappears, our link may break before we can update it — the agency itself remains the authoritative route.
7. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms as the Site changes. The date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision, and continued use of the Site after a change constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. Material changes will be reflected in the change log.
8. Contact
Questions about these Terms, a correction request, or a permissions enquiry can be sent to [email protected] or through the contact form.
