Privacy Policy

FishFig is a static, read-only reference site. There is no account system, no login, no user profile, and no database of what you look up. This page sets out exactly what the small number of interactive features do with your data, in plain language.

What we do not collect

There is no registration, so we never hold a name, password, or account history for you. We do not ask for your address, phone number, date of birth, or payment details, and there is no checkout on this site. We do not sell, rent, trade, or broker personal information to anyone, and we do not build advertising profiles or audience segments from your visit. The tools on this site — the catch-limit checker, license stacker, planners, and printable worksheets — compute their answers from data shipped with the page rather than by sending your inputs to a server.

Contact form

The contact form on the Contact page is powered by Web3Forms, a third-party serverless form service. When you submit it, the name, email, subject, and message you enter are sent to Web3Forms and forwarded to the FishFig Editorial Team at [email protected].

  • We use that information only to read and reply to your message.
  • We do not add you to a mailing list, newsletter, or marketing sequence, and we do not sell, rent, or share the content of your message with advertisers or other third parties.
  • A hidden honeypot field helps filter automated spam. It is invisible to real users, is not used to track you, and carries no personal data.
  • Messages are retained in the receiving mailbox only as long as needed to handle the enquiry and keep a record of corrections we have made. To request deletion of a message you sent, email us at [email protected] and we will remove it.

Web3Forms' own handling of the transmission is governed by their privacy policy. We keep no database of form submissions on this site, and the form is not used to create a user record.

Analytics

This site uses Google Analytics 4 (measurement ID beginning G-F362R33YFR) to understand which pages and tools are used, so we can tell which parts of the reference are worth maintaining. Google Analytics sets cookies and collects information about your visit — including pages viewed, approximate location derived from IP address, device and browser type, referring source, and interactions such as clicks — and that data is processed by Google as an independent controller under its own terms.

We do not enable Google Signals, advertising personalisation, or remarketing on this property, and we do not join analytics data to any other dataset to identify you. You can refuse or delete the analytics cookies through your browser settings without losing access to any part of this site, and Google publishes a Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on that blocks measurement across sites that use it. Browser-level tracking protection, private browsing modes, and content blockers also prevent the measurement script from running.

No page on this site carries third-party advertising networks, social plug-ins, session recording, heat-mapping, or cross-site retargeting pixels.

Location data and the “Fishing near me” sorter

Some water-body pages offer a “Fishing near me” sorter. If you choose to use it, your browser asks for permission to share your device location, and the coordinates are used in your browser only, to sort the list of waters already shipped with the page by straight-line distance. We do not transmit those coordinates to our servers or to any third party, we do not store them, and we cannot see them. Declining the permission prompt leaves the page fully usable — the list simply stays in its default order, and every water, map link, and regulation reference remains available.

The ZIP-code lookup on the near-me tool works the same way: the ZIP-to-centroid table is included with the page, so the lookup happens locally and your ZIP code is not sent anywhere. Text you type into any calculator, planner, or worksheet on this site stays in the browser unless you deliberately submit it through the contact form.

Local browser storage

Interactive tools such as the trip planner, catch log, and worksheets may save your inputs in your browser’s local storage so the page still works if you refresh or return later. That data stays on your device, is not readable by us, and is removed when you clear your browser’s site data. If a tool offers an export or print action, the file is generated in your browser.

Children

This site is a general-audience reference about fishing rules and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children, and because there is no account system there is nothing for a child to register for. If you believe a child has sent us personal information through the contact form, email us and we will delete it.

Your choices and rights

Because we hold no account data, the practical requests we can act on are: deletion of a contact-form message you sent, and correction of a factual error on a page. Email [email protected] for either. For analytics data held by Google, use the opt-out add-on above or Google’s own privacy controls — we cannot retrieve or delete an individual visitor’s analytics record, because we do not hold identifiers that would let us find one.

Depending on where you live, you may have statutory rights of access, correction, deletion, or objection over personal data. Where those rights apply, contact us and we will respond within the period your jurisdiction requires. Since we do not collect account data or sell personal information, in most cases the honest answer will be that we hold nothing about you beyond an aggregated analytics record.

Links to other sites

We link to official state and provincial fish and wildlife agencies, regulation publications, and other external resources so you can verify a figure at its source. Those sites have their own privacy practices and may set their own cookies; we are not responsible for their content or data handling, and a link is not an endorsement.

Security and changes to this policy

This site is served as static files over HTTPS. There is no server-side application holding user data to breach, which is the main reason the design keeps computation in the browser. Transmission through the contact form depends on Web3Forms’ infrastructure and the security of ordinary email delivery, so please do not send sensitive personal information through it.

We will update this policy if the site’s practices change — for example if analytics or third-party embeds are added or removed — and the date at the top of the page reflects the most recent revision. Material changes are also recorded in the change log.
